They’ll be plenty of festive spirit aboard Newport Bus’ vehicles this Friday as its drivers don their yuletide woolly sweaters for Christmas Jumper Day.

And the city’s main bus operator is encouraging its customers to take part too as it promises to donate £1 for every passenger who Tweets a selfie wearing a festive jumper while on their bus and tagging Newport Bus on the day.

Staff throughout the company will be making a donation of £2 to take part in the annual festive event for Save The Children and Newport Bus have said they’ll also match these donations as they look to raise lots of money for the charity.

Helen Burgess, Operations Manager at Newport Bus, said: “It’s wonderful to be helping support such a great cause. I know that lots of the drivers and staff, including myself, are really looking forward to wearing our Christmas jumpers this Friday and seeing what types of jumpers our customers wear too. The buses could look very colourful that day!”

Scott Pearson, Managing Director of Newport Transport, which runs Newport Bus, said: “Save The Children works tirelessly to help children in need. The response from our staff to supporting Christmas Jumper Day and the charity’s work has been inspiring so we’re hoping as many of our customers take part on Friday too. By taking a selfie aboard our buses and sharing it with us on our Twitter page bus users will be helping make a huge difference to the charity’s work.”

Customers will also be able to make donations in collection boxes on the buses and at Newport Bus’ Travel Centre at the bus station.

To support Newport Bus’ fundraising efforts remember to Tweet a selfie when travelling aboard any of its buses this Friday wearing you festive jumper. Don’t forget to tag Newport Bus in the Tweet using @NewportBus.
