Network Rail Works, Cardiff Road, Newport - October 2015 - April 2016


Newport Bus wishes to inform customers that from Tuesday 20th October, for approximately 20 weeks, Network Rail will be commencing works on Cardiff Road Bridge as part of their electrification project.

Below is a list of works and their effect on bus services.

20.10.15 to 22.10.15  – Between 09:30 - 22:30 traffic management will be in place with both the Eastbound and Westbound carriageways reduced to one lane. The Bus Stop outside McDonalds restaurant at Harlech Retail Park (Westbound) will be out of use.

23.10.15 to 27.10.15  – Western Power Distribution will be diverting their mains supply under temporary lane closures. The bus stop opposite McDonalds restaurant will be relocated further Westbound.

28.10.15 to 29.04.16  – Full reconstruction of the bridge. Westbound carriageway will be completely closed and Eastbound carriageway will have a contraflow in place. Once the works on the westbound carriageway is complete the traffic management will then replicate to the Eastbound carriageway.

Network Rail will be holding an information drop-in event on Tuesday 20 October at St Thomas Church, Old Cardiff Road, Maesglas, Newport, NP20 3AT. Staff from the project team will be on hand between 3:30pm – 6:30pm and residents are encouraged to drop by at any time, no appointment is necessary. Newport Bus will also have a representative present at this event.

Newport bus wishes to inform customers that delays to services will be possible, especially at peak traffic times, and ask customers allow extra time to complete their journey, and allow extra time for any connecting journeys made. We thank you for your patience during this time.
