Newport Central Bus Station Service Information - December 2015

Your new bus station will open from Friday 11th December 2015. We’re very excited because this means we’ll be able to provide all your local bus services from a centralised city centre location.

We know that things haven’t been easy for you since the closure of the old bus station, and with services running from different parts of the city. That’s why we’re very grateful for your patience during this time.

Effective from the 11th December all your favourite services will be back, operating from new, modern bus stands. The map below shows at which bus stand you can find each service. Our new Travel Centre at the new bus station will also open that same month.

With friendly helpful staff there you’ll be able to buy and top-up your bus smartcards, find out more information about our services, and get any timetables you need.

We promise to keep improving your local bus services in 2016 by continuing to invest in modern buses, polite and helpful drivers and affordable fares.

That’s right, because you can use one of our Passport or Freedom cards instead. Both cards are free to apply for and work just like the Osyter card in London.

If you use the bus a lot then the Passport card is perfect for you. You can top it up with weekly or monthly travel credit on any of our buses or at the Travel Centre. The card gives you big savings on your bus travel compared to paying for single or day tickets.

If you’re more of a casual bus user then the Freedom card’s the one for you. You can pay to put whatever amount of cash credit you want on it. Every time you use the card to pay for a journey the cash for that trip is deducted from the credit on your card. You just top it up, just like the Passport card, when you need more. And better still you get 10% off all on-bus fares when using the card.
