Contactless limit are increasing on our buses too

1 month ago Fri 15th Oct 2021

Following the relaxation of the contactless payment rules, the limit for contactless payment on our buses will be raised to £100 from Sunday, October 17.

This banking development will be very welcomed by the Passport and Passport Plus cardholders. The current fare for a 4-weekly Adult Passport to travel in Zone 1 is £50 and a 4-weekly Adult Passport Plus in Zone 2 is £60. Raising the contactless limit from £45 to £100 will give the users of the Passport cards the freedom to top up with a 4-weekly ticket using contactless payment methods on board our buses and will remove the need for them to carry out these transactions at the Newport Bus office.

Zone 1 includes Newport City, Parc Seymour, Ponthir, Rogerstone, Rhiwderin and up to St Mellons Garden Centre, and zone 2 includes Cardiff, Risca and Cwmbran. More info here for Travel Zones.

Morgan Stevens, Newport Transport Director of Delivery comments:” We are delighted with this development as it really helps to make sure that all our customers have easy access to one of our cheapest fares. A 4-weekly ticket offers over 55% saving on daily tickets.

We would like also to remind our customers that all our day, weekly and 4-weekly bus tickets are available for purchase on the Newport Bus app. Mobile tickets are also an ideal solution when you need to buy a ticket for another user thanks to the gifting function.
