ABP Newport Marathon and 10K Route Diversions 2026

On Sunday 19 April 2026 Newport will host the ABP Newport Wales Marathon & 10K. As a result, there will be some disruption to bus services as follows:

Both Friars Walk and Market Square bus stations will be inaccessible all day. 

All journeys will operate to/from stops on Queensway (opposite Newport Railway Station) as follows:

  • Route 2: Stand Q8
  • Route 5: Stand Q7
  • Routes 9A/9C:  Stand Q7
  • Route 16C:  Stand Q7
  • Route 19:  Stand Q4
  • Route 26A: Stand Q4
  • Route 30:  Stand Q4
  • Route 32: Stand Q4
  • Route 33: Stand Q4
  • Route 29A: Stand Q8
  • Route 60: Stand Q6
  • Route 74: Stand Q8
  • Route 73: Stand Q4
  • Route R1: Stand Q8
  • Route X60:  Stand Q8

The following additional diversions will apply:

Route 9C 

08:35, 09:35, 10:35 journeys inbound from Newport Retail Park will divert via the Broadmead Park slip road and will resume it's normal route from Moorland Park.

Stops along Nash Drive, Mulcaster Avenue and Nash Constitutional Club will not be served.           

Routes 30, 32, 33

All day

From Newport, Queensway via Stow Hill and Belle Vue Lane resuming the route from the Belle Vue Lane. 

Towards Newport, normal route to Belle Vue Lane traffic lights then Belle Vue Lane and Stow Hill to Queensway. 

Stops at Emlyn Street, St Paul's Walk, Ebenezer Terrace, Central Police Station, Mariners Green, Royal Gwent Hospital and Belle Vue Lane (towards Newport)  will not be served. 

Route 74 

08:37 journey from Chepstow will divert via Balfe Road and Aberthaw Road and will then resume it's normal route at Chepstow Road. 

Stops along Nash Drive, Mulcaster Avenue and Nash Constitutional Club will not be served.
