We are recruiting bus drivers to work from our depot based in Newport. The positions available are for full time city bus drivers and part-time (school term only) mini-bus drivers.
A full current PCV licence and a up-to-date DCPC card is desirable but is not essential, as Newport Transport will provide full training for the Passenger Carrying Vehicle (PCV) licence and Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) will be given. The applicant should be able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills, enjoy working on their own whilst being part of a team. We require the applicatnt to have a minimum of 2-years clean driving licence.
Newport Bus operates the main bus services within the city of Newport and its surrounding area, including the communities up to Monmouth, Chepstow, Cwmbran and Cardiff. We also operate a Demand Responsive Transport service via minibus to the Gwent Levels, Marshfield and St Brides and run the school transport contract for Newport City Council. Newport Transport also offers a range of day trips and private hire of full-size coaches and 19-seat minibuses.
For drivers with a PCV licence and DCPC certificate, the salary will be £9.00 p/h with enhanced rates for overtime worked over and above 38 hours.
For drivers without a PCV licence, the salary is £8.00 p/h during training for under 25, £8.21 for over 25, then increasing to £9.00 p/h after 6 months of completed service. Travel Centre Customer Service Agent
We are currently recruiting for the position of Customer Service agent for our Travel Centre in Friars Walk, Newport.
The role consists of dealing with general public travel information, the sale of travel cards and day trips, updating the social media posting
with traffic alerts and responds to customer service-related enquiries as well as managing the control of lost properties.
The applicant will need to demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills, friendly, experience of dealing with the general public
would be an advantage.
Working hours: 5 days over 7 day, with an AM and PM shift pattern to cover the opening hours of 7:00 till 18:00.

The application will require have a minimum NVQ3 qualification in light mechanic and will have experience of working on various makes of cars, servicing, fault finding and carrying out required repairs quickly and efficiently.
It is essential that you can work using your own initiative. It would be beneficial that you be a qualified MOT tester for classes 4, 5 and 7 vehicles. However, this is not essential as full training can be arranged for the right candidate.
This is a full-time permanent position requiring shift working on a 5 over 7 basis, with the possibility of overtime.

Engineers make up an essential part of our team and are responsible for ensuring our fleet of vehicles are safe for our customers and meet regulatory standards as a minimum. Our expanding workshop also has third-party customers who use our engineering services for their vehicles.
The successful applicant will need to have experience in working within PCV or HGV vehicle engineering with a C&G Level 3 or equivalent NVQ qualification. They will need to demonstrate excellent diagnostic skills and the ability to carry out repairs efficiently. The applicant will also be capable of inspecting vehicles to both DVSA and company standards as well as working under their own initiative.
An HGV/PCV licence and IRTEC accreditation would be an advantage; however, these are not essential as training can be given for the right candidate.
This is a full-time permanent position requiring shift working on a 5 over 7 basis with the possibility of overtime.
