Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Location: Newport, Gwent.

At Newport Transport we are in our 125th year of operation and the business is growing its footprint across Wales and England through our Bus, Private Hire and FlixBus Operations. To support this growth, we are looking for experienced PSV Mechanics to join our busy workshop. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled technicians to work on a modern fleet of buses and coaches within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on PSV vehicles.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
  • Complete vehicle inspections and preventative maintenance.
  • MOT preparation.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely and to a high standard.
  • Accurately complete maintenance records and job sheets.
  • Assist with breakdowns and emergency repairs when required.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience as a PSV or HGV Mechanic.
  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • PCV licence is desirable but not essential.
  • IRTEC qualification in vehicle inspection is desirable but not essential.

  • Salary: Up to £19.74 per hour basic + Overtime + Enhanced rates for late and Sunday working.

Schedule

  • Vacancy one within our coaching department offers a 4 day, 40 hour week on a three-week rotation. This incorporates a favourable 6-day rest period and includes enhancement for late, and weekend hours worked.
  • Vacancy two within our bus department offers a 5 day, 38 hour week, early shift with four weeks of Monday to Friday and a fifth week of Tuesday to Saturday within a five-week rotation.
