Changes to services from 4 January 2026

Journeys at 0905 from Newport and 1815 from Gwent Europark will be withdrawn. Alternative journeys are provided at similar times by route X74. 

All other journeys remain unchanged. 

20/21

Route 21 will no longer serve Durham Road, Bank Street or Sutton Road. Buses will instead remain on Caerleon Road between Duckpool Road and Heather Road.  

There are minor changes to the afternoon timetable of both by up-to 5 minutes to improve reliability.

On Monday to Friday, most peak journey times are revised with more time added to journeys because of congestion at Caerleon. In particular, the 0705 departure from Newport will operate earlier at 0700.

29 & 29A

On Monday to Saturday, most journeys are revised by between 1 and 6 minutes with more time added at peak times due congestion at Caerleon. 

The 1508 (revised to 1507) from Cwmbran will operate as route 29A rather than 29 to provide an additional service down Lodge Road at school times.

On Monday to Friday, the 0936 journey from Monmouth will operate later at 0945.

The 1937 journey will operate 2 minutes earlier at 1935.

The 1520 journey from Monmouth Comprehensive School will operate at slightly revised times from stops beyond Somerset Road.

To improve the arrival time at Chepstow Comprehensive School, there will be change to the route of the 0725 journey from Newport. This journey will operate as normal to High Beech roundabout then via St Lawrence Road and Welsh Street to Chepstow Comprehensive School then continue via Welsh Street to Chepstow Bus Station. 

There are no changes to the route of the 1525 journey from Chepstow Comprehensive School however more time has been added to the journey to improve reliability. 

74 & X74

To improve the arrival time at Chepstow Comprehensive School, there will be change to the route of the 0725 journey from Newport. This journey will operate as normal to High Beech roundabout then via St Lawrence Road and Welsh Street to Chepstow Comprehensive School then continue via Welsh Street to Chepstow Bus Station. 

On Monday to Saturday most journeys are revised by between 1 and 10 minutes with more time added at peak times due congestion.

In particular:

The 1410 from Newport will operate at earlier at 1400.

The 1533 journey from Chepstow Comprehensive School will operate earlier at 1530 with more time added to the journey to complete the route .
