KLA City of Newport Half Marathon Diversions: 1 March 2026

Newport will host the KLA City of Newport Half-Marathon on Sunday 1 March 2025. Many roads around the city will be closed from 6am. They will reopen in stages as runners pass. As a result, there are number of diversions to bus routes detailed below.

2     Newport - Gaer 

08:45 to/from Gaer - This journey will operate as normal from the bus station however on return to the city centre it will operate via Belle Vue Lane, and Cardiff Road to the bus station

5      Newport – Magor

05:05 to Magor - will operate as normal. 

06:05 from Magor - will operate as normal to Somerton Road then Nash Road, Southern Distributor Road and City Bridge  to the bus station 

9A/C     Newport – Newport Retail Park 

08:07 to/from Retail Park (Route 9C)  - This journey will start at the Cenotaph instead of the bus station. It will then operate the normal route to Moorland Park then Lliswerry Road, Nash Road, Southern Distributor Road and Usk Way to the bus station.

08:32 to/from Retail Park (Route 9A) - This journey will start at Somerton (opp former Black Horse). It will not start at the bus station. It will then operate the normal route to Chepstow Road (Cross Hands) then Somerton Road, Nash Road, Southern Distributor Road and Usk Way to the bus station.

09:07 to/from Retail Park (Route 9C)  - This journey will start at the bus station then via Heidenheim Drive, M4, Coldra roundabout, Chepstow Road and Llanwern Road to Ringland Centre. Then normal route to Moorland Park then then Lliswerry Road, Nash Road, Southern Distributor Road and Usk Way to the bus station.

09:37 to/from Retail Park (Route 9A) - This journey will operate via Usk Way, Southern Distributor Road, Nash Road and resume its normal route from Moorland Park.

16C     Newport - Bettws

04:38 from Kimberley Park - Normal route

07:00 to/from Bettws - This journey will start from the bus station and operate as normal but will finish at Queensway (Stop Q4) instead of the bus station.

08:45 to/from Bettws  - This journey will start from the bus station and operate as normal but will finish at Queensway (Stop Q4) instead of the bus station.

19       Newport - Malpas 

08:24 to/from Malpas  - This journey will start at the bus station and operate as normal but will finish at Queensway (Stop Q4) instead of the bus station

09:24 to/from Malpas  - This journey start at Queensway (Stop Q4) instead of the bus station. It will then operate the normal route and finish at the bus station. 

10:24 to/from Malpas - Normal route

26A     Newport – St. Julians

08:45 to/from St. Julians - Will not operate.

09:45 to/from St. Julians - Will not operate.

29A     Newport – Cwmbran 

08:20 from Newport  - This journey will start at the bus station then operate via Heidenheim Drive and A4042 to the Turnpike Roundabout then via Ponthir, Ponthir Road and Caerleon Village and resume the normal route from Caerleon Post Office.

09:01 from Cwmbran - This journey will operate as normal until Caerleon Road motorway bridge (junction 25) then via Heidenheim Drive to the bus station. This service may need to wait for a short period for the road to open near the junction of Sainsbury's

09:20 from Newport - This journey will start at the bus station the operate via Heidenheim Drive and A4042 to the Turnpike Roundabout then via Ponthir, Ponthir Road and Caerleon Village and resume the normal route from Caerleon Post Office.

10:01 from Cwmbran - Normal route 

10:20 from Newport - This journey will start at the bus station then operate via Heidenheim Drive and A4042 to the Turnpike Roundabout then via Ponthir, Ponthir Road and Caerleon Village and resume the normal route from Caerleon Post Office.

30       Newport – Cardiff 

09:20 from Newport - This journey will start at bus station then via Queensway, Bridge Street, North Road, Havelock Street, Stow Hill, Belle Vue Lane and resume the normal route from the traffic lights at the bottom of Belle Vue Lane.

32   Newport - Duffryn

09:20 to/from Duffryn - This journey will start in the bus station then operate via Bridge Street, North Road, Havelock Street, Stow Hill, Belle Vue Lane and resume the normal route from the traffic lights at the bottom of Belle Vue Lane. 

33     Newport - Duffryn

09:00 to/from Duffryn - This journey will start in the bus station then operate via Bridge Street, North Road, Havelock Street, Stow Hill, Belle Vue Lane and resume the normal route from the traffic lights at the bottom of Belle Vue Lane

60       Newport – Monmouth

08:50 from Newport - This journey will start at the bus station then operate via Heidenheim Drive and A4042 to the Turnpike Roundabout then via Ponthir, Ponthir Road and resume the normal from Usk Road

X60     Newport - -Monmouth

08:35 from Newport - This journey will start at the bus station then via Heidenheim Drive, M4, Coldra roundabout, and join the A449

73       Newport – Chepstow

07:34 from Newport - This journey will start at the Cenotaph at 07:37 instead of the bus station It will then operate the normal route

08:08 from Newport - This journey will start at the Cenotaph at 0811 instead of the bus station. It will then operate the normal route

74       Newport – Chepstow 

08:25 from Chepstow  - This journey will operate the normal route until Newport Retail Park then via Southern Distributor Road and Usk Way to the bus station.

09:25 from Newport - This journey will start at the bus station at 09:30 and operate via Usk Way and Southern Distributor Road and resume its normal route from Newport Retail Park.
