Newport Bus ranked Number One in Wales for Overall Passenger Journey Satisfaction

Newport Bus is delighted to be ranked Number One in Wales for overall passenger journey satisfaction following the publication last week of the 2024 results of the ‘Your Bus Journey’ results undertaken by the independent watchdog for transport users – Transport Focus.

The 2024 survey results include Welsh journeys for the first time and provides an independent insight on 48,000 journeys across the UK focusing on several different aspects of a customer’s journey, including value for money, punctuality and their experience with the driver.

Newport Bus’s overall satisfaction at 89% is 5 percent higher than the second ranked operator and the Welsh average. The score of 89% also places Newport Bus in the top 20 in the UK.

David Jenkins, Managing Director of Newport Transport who operate Newport Bus said “This achievement is a direct reflection of the hard work, commitment, and care that our teams bring to their role every day. Being recognised as the best in delivering an outstanding customer experience is an incredible accomplishment”.

He continued “This score is also testament to other stakeholders that we work with to tailor our services to the passenger need including local employers, community engagement groups and our current customers. This goes to show what can be achieved through true partnership, local knowledge and an understanding of the network. We look forward to building on these positive results in 2025.”

Louise Collins, Director at Transport Focus said “Buses play a vital role connecting communities across the nation to job opportunities and public services. Variations in scores across the regions show some passengers are not receiving the same quality of service.” 

“These are positive results for Wales, providing a useful benchmark to build on.” 

“We’ll be using the results to help the industry focus on driving improvements and help make bus the first choice for more people.”
