Remembrance Day 2025

The annual Remembrance parades and services will take place on Sunday 9 November which will result in some diversions to bus services in Newport city centre, Caerleon Village and Monmouth and Caldicot Town Centres.
Due to the reduced weight limit on George Street Bridge, the diversions are different than previous years. The section of Chepstow Road between Clarence Place and Beechwood Park will not be served neither will Corporation Road between Clarence Place and the Corporation Hotel.
Buses will operate as follows:
Route 2
0845. 0945, 1045, 1145 from bus station:
Via Kingsway, Cardiff Road, Belle Vue Lane, Friars Road then left onto Stow Hill and resume normal route from St. Woolos Hospital
0855, 0955, 1055, 1155 from Byron Road to bus station:
Normal route to St. Woolos Hospital then right into Friars Road, Belle Vue Lane, Cardiff Road and Kingsway
Route 5
0505 from bus station:
Via Usk Way, City Bridge and Corporation Road resuming normal route from Cromwell Road.
0605 from Magor
Normal route to Cromwell Road (Corporation Hotel), then left onto Corporation Road, City Bridge, Usk Way to the bus station.
Route 9A
0832, 0937, 1037, 1137 from bus station:
Via Usk Way, City Bridge and Corporation Road resuming their normal route from Cromwell Road.
0857, 1002, 1102, 1202 from Newport Retail Park to bus station: Normal route to Hawthorne Avenue then via Somerton Road, Nash Road, Southern Distributor Road and Usk to the bus station.
Route 9C
0807, 0907, 1007, 1107, 1207 from bus station:
Via Usk Way, City Bridge, Southern Distributor Road, Nash Road, Somerton Road then right onto Chepstow Road resuming the normal route from Hawthorne Avenue.
0835, 0935, 1035, 1135 from Newport Retail Park to bus station:
Normal route to Cromwell Road (Corporation Hotel), then left onto Corporation Road, City Bridge, Usk Way to the bus station.
Route 16C
0700, 0845, 0945, 1045, 1145, 1215 from bus station:
Under the Old Green roundabout and resume normal route from Harlequin roundabout.
0715, 0900, 1000, 1100, 1200 from Clist Road to bus station:
Normal route to Harlequin roundabout then under the Old Green roundabout.
Route 19
0824, 0924, 1024, 1124, 1224 from bus station:
Under the Old Green roundabout and resume normal route from Harlequin roundabout.
0837, 0937, 1037, 1137 from Malpas Court to bus station:
Normal route to Harlequin roundabout then under the Old Green roundabout.
Route 26A
0845, 0945, 1045, 1145 from bus station:
Under the Old Green roundabout, Heidenheim Drive onto Caerleon Road link then right at Caerleon Road motorway roundabout, Caerleon Road left into St. Julians Avenue and left into St. Julians Road to resume the normal route
0900, 1000, 1100, 1200 from St Julians Primary School to bus station:
Normal route to Caerleon Road motorway roundabout then onto the link road to Heidenheim Drive then under the Old Green roundabout.
Route 29A
0820, 0920 from Newport:
Under the Old Green roundabout, Heidenheim Drive onto Caerleon Road link then left at Caerleon Road motorway roundabout and resume normal route from Haisbro Avenue
1020, 1120 from Newport:
Under the Old Green roundabout, Heidenheim Drive, continue on the bypass to the roundabout for the Grange University Hospital, operate through Ponthir, right into College Glade, left into Eastfield Road, left into Caesar Crescent, continue onto Roman Way. At the end of Roman Way turn right and resume normal route from Augustan Close.
1220 from Newport:
Under the Old Green roundabout, Heidenheim Drive onto Caerleon Road link then left at Caerleon Road motorway roundabout and resume normal route from Haisbro Avenue
0901 from Cwmbran:
Normal route to Caerleon Road motorway roundabout then onto the link road to Heidenheim Drive then under the Old Green roundabout.
1001, 1101 from Cwmbran:
Normal route to Roman Way stops. At the end of Roman Way turn right onto Lodge Hill then via Anthony Drive, left into Eastfield Road, right into College Glade at the end of College Glade turn right into Ponthir Road to Caerleon Village, continue as normal to Caerleon Road motorway roundabout then onto the link road to Heidenheim Drive then under the Old Green roundabout.
Route 30
No changes as a result of Remembrance Sunday but there are diversions in Cardiff due to Wales v Argentina at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
Route 60
0955 from Newport bus station
From Monmouth normal route until A40 at Raglan. Buses will stay on the A40 and enter Raglan at West Lea then turn right into Usk Road.
1100 from Newport bus station
From the bus station via A4042, Llanfrechfa and Ponthir resuming the normal route from East Lynne Gardens (Caerleon). At Raglan the bus will serve Usk Road then left onto High Street. Stops at Beuafort Square and Castle Road will not be served.
Route 66
1032 from Hereford
This journey will enter Monmouth via the A40 and Cinderhill Street and will not serve Agincourt Square
1130 from Monmouth
This journey will leave Monmouth via Cinderhill Street and A40 and will not serve Agincourt Square
Route 69
1006 from Monmouth
This journey will leave Monmouth via Cinderhill Street and will not serve Agincourt Square or Dixton Road bus stops
1105 from Chepstow
This journey will enter Monmouth via Cinderhill Street and will not serve St James Square or Agincourt Square
Route 73
0734, 0808, 1008, 1208 from Newport
Via Usk Way, City Bridge, Southern Distributor Road, Nash Road, Somerton Road then right onto Chepstow Road resuming the normal route from Hawthorne Avenue.
0915, 1100 from Chepstow
Normal route to Hawthorne Avenue then via Somerton Road, Nash Road, Southern Distributor Road and Usk to the bus station.
In addition, the 1100 journey will not serve Caerwent but remain on the A48.
Route 74
0925, 1025, 1125, 1225 from Newport bus station:
In Newport: via Usk Way, City Bridge, Corporation Road and Cromwell Road to resume normal route from Frobisher Road.
Additionally, the 0925, 1025, 1125 from Newport will divert in Caldicot: Normal route to the end of Station Road (traffic lights) then right onto Caldicot Bypass, at Deepweir left into Chepstow Road, left into Woodstock Way and resume normal route from Aldi.
0825, 1000, 1100 from Chepstow bus station:
Normal route to Somerton (Old Black Horse Inn), then via Cromwell Road, Corporation Road, City Bridge and Usk Way to bus station.
Additionally, the 1000 and 1100 from Chepstow will divert in Caldicot: Normal route to Asda then right onto Chepstow Road, right onto Caldicot Bypass and left on Station Road.
Route R1
0955, 1115 from Newport
These journeys will depart from Friars Walk bus station stand 14 – not Market Square. They will then operate on driversion resuming their normal route at the bottom of Oakfield Road.
0915, 1035, 1155 from Risca
Normal route until St. Woolos Cathedral then via Belle Vue Lane to Friars Walk bus station.
Route X60
0835 from Newport
Via Heidenheim Drive and M4 to Coldra roundabout then via A449. Please note that after leaving Newport the first stop will be Usk.
Where it is safe and legal to do so, drivers will pull over and observe the 2 minutes silence at 11am.
We will be offering free travel to any current or ex-military personnel in uniform or who can present a veterans card to the driver.
