Closure of A466 at Redbrook: from 27 June 2026 **UPDATED**

Changes to road closure information from 27 June 2026

Following the original information provided by Gloucestershire County Council, we had planned for the route and timetable of service 69 to return to normal from Saturday 27 June 2026. In the afternoon of 26 June 2026 it was confirmed that the road closure would continue to 17 July 2026.

Unfortunately, we are not in a position where we can simply continue the temporary timetable. The revised timetable uses additional staff and vehicles however we have tried to ensure we maintain a service as best as possible, and in particular ensuring the four journeys that serve the schools at Monmouth and Chepstow 

The following arrangements will apply 

Monday to Fridays

From Monmouth

  • 07:40 will depart at 07:32 and use the current diversion (via Clearwell and Newland)
  • 09:15 will depart at 09:00 and use the current diversion (via Clearwell and Newland)
  • 10:31 will start at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Monmouth, Wyesham or Redbrook.
  • 11:10 will divert via Trellech to St Arvans. It will not serve Wyesham, Redbrook, Llandogo or Tintern.
  • 12:31 will start at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Monmouth, Wyesham or Redbrook.
  • 13:10 will divert via Trellech to St Arvans. It will not serve Wyesham, Redbrook, Llandogo or Tintern.
  • 14:31 will start at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Monmouth, Wyesham or Redbrook.
  • 15:17 will depart at 15:03 and use the current diversion (via Clearwell and Newland)
  • 16:35 will divert via Trellech to St Arvans. It will not serve Wyesham, Redbrook, Llandogo or Tintern.
  • 17:41 will start at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Monmouth, Wyesham or Redbrook.
  • 18:56 will start at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Monmouth, Wyesham or Redbrook.

From Chepstow 

  • 07:35 will depart at 07:24 and use the current diversion (via Clearwell and Newland)
  • 09:06 will end at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Redbrook, Wyesham and Monmouth. 
  • 10:06 will divert at St Arvans via Trellech. It will not serve Tintern, Llandogo, Redbrook or Wyesham.
  • 11:06 will end at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Redbrook, Wyesham and Monmouth. 
  • 12:06 will divert via St Arvans to Trellech. t will not serve Tintern, Llandogo, Redbrook or Wyesham.
  • 13:06 will end at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Redbrook, Wyesham and Monmouth. 
  • 14:06 12:06 will divert via St Arvans to Trellech. t will not serve Tintern, Llandogo, Redbrook or Wyesham.
  • 15:16 will use the current diversion (via Clearwell and Newland)
  • 16:15 will end at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Redbrook, Wyesham and Monmouth. 
  • 17:30 will end at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Redbrook, Wyesham and Monmouth. 

Saturdays

From Monmouth

  • 07:10 will depart at 07:00 and use the current diversion (via Clearwell and Newland)
  • 09:10 will depart at 09:12 and divert via Trellech to St Arvans. It will not serve Wyesham, Redbrook, Llandogo or Tintern.
  • 11:10 will start at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Monmouth, Wyesham or Redbrook.
  • 13:10 will divert via Trellech to St Arvans. It will not serve Wyesham, Redbrook, Llandogo or Tintern.
  • 15:10 will start at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Monmouth, Wyesham or Redbrook.
  • 17:10 will depart at 17:00 and use the current diversion (via Clearwell and Newland)

From Chepstow 

  • 08:06 will use the current diversion (via Clearwell and Newland)
  • 10:06 will end at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Redbrook, Wyesham and Monmouth. 
  • 12:06 will end at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Redbrook, Wyesham and Monmouth. 
  • 14:06 will end at Bigsweir Bridge. It will not serve Redbrook, Wyesham and Monmouth. 
  • 16:06 will divert via St Arvans to Trellech. It will not serve Tintern, Llandogo, Redbrook or Wyesham.
  • 18:06 will depart at at 18:03 use the current diversion (via Clearwell and Newland)

Sundays

  • Revised timetable with all journeys operating via Clearwell and Newland.

You can also use route 65 is you are travelling between Chepstow and Monmouth

Put on your walking boots and let’s go exploring! Wander through the ruins of Tintern Abbey, stroll the old tracks of the Wye Valley Greenway, or head underground through the amazing Tidenham Tunnel. With direct access to the Offa’s Dyke Path, the Wye Valley Walk, Monmouthshire Way as well as many short circular walks, this route is packed with ways to stretch your legs. Fancy a little more of relaxing day? Then just hop on the bus, sit back and take in the views. 

Explore a little bit more! The bus will also stop along the diversionary route so why not explore Clearwell or Newland?
