5 months ago Fri 6th Mar 2026

On Friday 27 and Saturday 28 March 2026, the Newport Music Trail is back. And this year it's bigger and better.

Newport Music Trail is a free festival-like experience with amazing music taking place across established venues in the city. It's an exciting and electric mix of local and Welsh musical talent.

Special late-night buses!

We’re delighted to support the event by offering additional late-night buses.

Five dedicated routes will operate from Friars Walk Bus Station at 11:45pm on both nights, ensuring easy travel to areas across the city. The routes are based on our normal services with some extra areas added.

The routes are

  • Route 2 - a combination of routes 1 & 2 serving Gaer, Pye Corner, Afon Village, Mount Pleasant and High Cross
  • Route 9C to Alway, Ringland and Lliswerry also serving Glan Llyn
  • Route 16C to Bettws with an extension to serve Malpas
  • Route 29A to Caerleon but serving St Julians. In Caerleon it will also include Home Farm and College Glade
  • Route 33 to Duffryn with an extension to serve Bassaleg (Laurel Road).

The routes have been added to our online timetables and our journey planner. You can contact us for more information and, our customer service team will be in the bus station both nights from 23:20 to help you find your bus.

Great Value fares.

Normal fares will apply with a single ticket just £2.50.

You can pay contactless or cash (exact fare only). Day/Week tickets are valid too.

You can use your concessionary bus pass for free travel as normal.

Just one more thing…

We love burgers, chips and kebabs as much as you, but we’d be grateful if you don’t bring hot food onto our buses. Drinking alcohol on our buses is strictly prohibited.

Frequently asked questions?

Do I just turn up for the bus or do I need to book?

Just turn up. These journeys are like any of our normal bus services.

How much is the fare?

Any single journey is £2.50.

If you are under 21, you may be eligible for the £1 youth ticket. For more details click here

If you have a concessionary bus pass then you can use it for free travel.

How do I pay?

Just pay the driver when you get on - contactless or cash. If you are using cash you’ll need the exact fare as our drivers can’t give change.

I have a day/weekly ticket – is that valid?

Yes – just scan your ticket as normal.

I’ll be on the bus after midnight. Is my ticket still valid?

Yes. Our day tickets are valid until 1am.

Do I have to get on at Friars Walk Bus Station or can I get on elsewhere?

You can get on and off at any bus stop along the route. If you are in the city centre, Friars Walk Bus Station is the most convenient (and it’s undercover!). But, for example, you could board route 2 on North Street.

I’m not going to the music trail; can I use the bus?

Yes. The bus is available to anyone.
